About Community-Police Advocates

The Mount Pleasant Area Diversity Group is committed to advocating for the dignity and fair treatment of all members of our community. We know that the only effective way to counteract patterns of discrimination and bias--whether consciously or unconsciously enacted--is to be vigilant in our awareness of these patterns and actively work to interrupt and prevent them.

Our Community-Police Advocates will listen to any concern you have about an interaction with local law enforcement.  In response to concerns, Advocates will...

  • refer you to options for communicating this concern to the responsible agencies, including processes for filing formal complaints;
  • assist with the process of filing formal complaints, upon your request;
  • refer you to support services, if needed;
  • track patterns of bias, discrimination, or other concerning conduct;
  • make recommendations to the local law enforcement agencies, as needed, about effective ways to address concerning conduct.
